Tracy Mitchell

Tracy is a graduate of the Theatre Dance program at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she studied under the direction of National Ballet of Canada prima ballerina Nadia Potts. After graduation, Tracy appeared in several dance productions in Toronto as well as in commercial promotions for Lancôme, and toured with the Ontario Ballet’s The Nutcracker. She later moved to Germany to perform in the corps de ballet of the Pforzheimer Ballet under balletmaster Anthony Sterago. Her performance credits with the Pforzheimer Ballet included roles in Coppelia, Cinderella, Die Fledermaus, Kiss Me, Kate, and Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as an original ballet/contemporary dance adaptation of the rock musical Pink Floyd – The Wall. Tracy has been a fully registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance for over twenty years, and teaches all levels of the RAD syllabus. She has served as a ballet and movement coach for several professional theatre productions including Miss Saigon for Cameron Mackintosh Productions, and was most recently the resident rehearsal director for Ballet Jörgen’s The Nutcracker in Ottawa.

Tracy is a certified instructor of both Pilates and yoga, which she incorporates into her ballet instruction to emphasize the fundamentals of proper body alignment, injury prevention, and core strength. As well, she holds her ISTD Modern credential, and was one of the first instructors in Canada to be certified in the acclaimed Melody Movement preschool ballet program from the United Kingdom. Tracy has continued her professional development through the “Healthy Dancer” program with the Royal Ballet School, and she holds her Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificate. In addition to teaching dance, Tracy is a Registered Behaviour Technician and supports children with exceptional needs through the OCSB.
